Descrição: All organism have microbe associated to them that play an in important role in their health. We will maintain corals and seaweeds at the Ramalhete fieldstation and isolate bacteria from your seaweed/seagrass/coral of preference. They can come in a surprising range of colors and shapes. Once we have pure bacteria isolated we will have to identify them by sequencing from which we will also get an idea of what they can do for their host: are they good or bad guys, helping or eating their host. The good guys at a later stage hopefully can be used to help restoring marine forests.
