Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira

The Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira is located in the former church of the Convent of Carmo, within an architectonic complex of great beauty and heritage value in this city. Inaugurated on April 21st, 2005, its main goal is to promote scientific knowledge and literacy among the general public, serving as a dedicated space for Science where visitors are invited to participate in activities and interactive exhibitions that stimulate curiosity and interest in Science. Experiment, touch, observe and conclude. Go back to the beginning and do everything again, now in a different way... This is the spirit of the ´Do, Learn!´ exhibition, which includes challenges in three areas: ´See, Do and Learn´ with mathematical challenges ´Listen, Do and Learn´ where it is possible to listen and understand different aspects of sound physics and ´Water and Energy´ to explore different types of energy. In addition to the exhibition space, a visit to the center includes experimental activities in the laboratory to awaken scientific curiosity. The center is responsible for organizing workshops, lectures, project exhibitions, guided walking tours, environmental volunteering promotion activities, and science festivals.
