Malaria explained to Bill Clinton

What is malaria and what's it's importance world-wide? These were the questions that leaded the presentation that two students from the secondary school Henriques Nogueira, made, on the 30th of May, to na audience formed by Bill Clinton (president of the U.S.A.), Antónoi Guterres (Portuguese Prime minister), and Mariano Gago (minister of science and technology).

The students started by explaining what happened in a human being infected with malaria, showing a blade with human blood infected with the Plasmodium Falciparum. The President Bill Clinton showed quite a lot of interest, having seen the blade and the vector mosquito.

Afterwards, they explored a CD-ROM with info about the disease which also brought some doubts to the president of the U.S.A..

This presentation went on during a debate among investigators, scientists and students on the theme "Progresses of Scientific Investigation in the Area of Science and Health". This debate was integrated in na exposition about Infectious Diseases in the XXI century; that took place in the "pavilhão do conhecimento", in Lisbon, between the 26th and the 30th of May.
